Frente a Ti Edith Márquez has a long list of musical achievements, but it is undeniably her participation in the iconic pop group Timbiriche that catapulted her to fame in Mexico. Márquez, who was born in Mexico City on January 27, 1973, showed early promise as a performer and vocalist. As a youngster, she competed in televised singing contests such as Canta, Canta, and Juguemos a Cantar. Her on-screen success led to parts in famous shows and telenovelas such as Papá Soltero, Agujetas de Color de Rosa, and Sentimientos Ajenos, among others. Márquez was asked to join Timbiriche, a budding adolescent pop group that went on to have phenomenal commercial success. Timbiriche rose to the top of the Latin music industry with songs like “Pasos,” “Máscaras,” and “Yo No Soy una Más.” Márquez left Timbiriche after years of success to concentrate on personal issues, such as her relationship with musician Alberto Sánchez and the birth of their son Sebastián. Márquez began her solo career in 1998 with the publication of her first album, Frente a Ti, on Warner Music México. The album sold over 250,000 copies in Mexico alone, thanks to hits like “Por Hablarle de T” and “Mrame.” Subsequent releases were also well-received. Every two years or so, Márquez released a new album, with names like Caricias del Cielo (2000), Extraviate (2001), Quien Te Cantará (2004), and Cuando Grita la Piel (2005). (2005). Márquez secured a contract with EMI after her sixth Warner CD, Memorias del Corazón, and released her first album with the label in 2007.
